Citroën reveals first pictures of the new AirCross, the adventure version of C3 Picasso

Citroën has announced last year it intends to present a lot of new vehicles. Most of them will be versions of existing cars, such as the new AirCross, an "adventure" version of the C3 Picasso. The company will first present it in Brazil, possibly in the second semester of 2010, but its first official images have been presented today, through its Twitter. Check them below.

The AirCross, codenamed A58, is only different from the C3 Picasso due to a higher suspension and to some external aspects, such as the front grille, entirely new, the spare tire, fixed on the back door of the car, side skirts and inscriptions with the name of the car all around.

Due to the spare tire, its total lenght must be a little bigger than 4.08 m. The higher suspension must have also contributed to make it taller than the regular 1.62 m tall C3 Picasso, but it must still be 1.73 m wide. Its luggage compartment, able to hold 500 l, must be a little bigger, considering the space reserved for the spare tire must have been seized to carry small stuff.

Engines must be limited to one choice, the 1.6-litre 16V flex unit already in use in Brazil, if it is not a little bigger, or else, the 2-litre unit already in use by the C4 family, also capable of running on ethanol or gasoline in any proportion. We'll be sure about all data when the car gets its official presentation, in some months from now.

GTbyCitroën gets close to reality in the streets of London

There is at least one fantasy supercar that will become reality. The GTbyCitroën, created for the video game Gran Turismo, has also made an appearance at the Paris Motor Show last year and has been so widely praised by consumers Citroën apparently has decided to give it a small run series. We only doubt it will be powered by fuel cells, as in Gran Turismo 5. We would bet on a powerful diesel, similar to the ones that have been used by Peugeot to win this year's edition of Le Mans. Anyway, we would love to know what has powered it around the streets of London, where it has decided to show off a little bit, as you can see below.

GTbyCitroën is 4.96 m long, 2.08 m wide and only 1.09 m tall and, as we have said, it uses fuel cells on Gran Turismo 5. They feed its powerful electric engine and helps it face hot cars like Nissan GT-R with no emissions but water. Besides riding around London, this car will also be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which starts on July 3.

LEAKED! - 2010 Citroën C3 shows up in its final appearance in front of dealers

It is no mystery Citroën is about to replace the current C3. It was even becoming almost too late for the company to do so, but it has finally decided to change and changes look good, as you can see in the pictures World Car Fans has received from an anonymous reader.

Besides the pictures, the mysterious reader has also provided some information. These pictures were taken at a presentation to dealers last June 23 and they present a whole new aspect for the car. Although its platform is said to be the same one of the previous model, the new C3 seems to be larger. Inside the car, that perception is certain to be even bigger not only due to any real room gain, but also by the fact the car adopts the VisionSpace windshield, which invades part of the roof and allows for an improved view towards light signs, for example.

The new car also presents the new Citroën logo and it shall live with the old C3, contrary to what we expected, and also with the new DS3. It will be interesting to see if the market will embrace three similar-sized cars from the same automaker or if any of them will have to be dropped along the way.

The car will start to be sold in Europe sometime between its presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in September, or March 2010, according to the anonymous reader. Engines will be pretty much the same ones already used in the car, ranging from a 59 bhp 1.1-litre petrol unit to a 108 bhp 1.6-litre diesel option. In South America, where this car will also be produced around 2011, it should keep its two flex fuel powerplants, a 82/80 bhp 1.4-litre and a 113/110 bhp 1.6-litre running on ethanol/petrol.

SPY PHOTOS! - Citroën already tests the C3 Picasso in South America disguised as C3

When Gustavo Rodrigues Carvalho sent us these pictures, he was in doubt about what this car would be. "If we pay careful attention, it is easy to see the tracks are bigger! Can it be the next C3 in tests?", he has asked us. The rear and front tracks of the car are really bigger, hence the extensions on the fenders. The explanation for that is simple: these cars (more than one in the pictures) are not C3 units, but C3-mules used to hide the real car, the new C3 Picasso minivan. It was expected to be presented in Brazil in 2009, but, since it is still riding with the help of mules, development must take a little more to be completed. South American readers show wait for the car by 2010.

The new minivan uses the same platform used by 207 (the real one, sold in Europe) and is 4.08 m long, 1.73 m wide and 1.62 m tall, with a luggage compartment of 500 l. In Brazil, it should be equipped with 1.4-litre engines, pumping out 80/80 bhp (petrol/ethanol), and 1.6-litre units, able to generate 110/113 bhp (petrol/ethanol).

The small minivan will be the first vehicle of the new small range from Citroën. After it we can expect to see a hatchback based on the concept car DS Inside, a small sedan and a crossover based on C3 Picasso.

If you manage to find and photograph a new car running around, disguised or not, and want to share you finding with us, do not hesitate to contact us andsend us your pictures. Please do not forget to authorise us to publish them. We will be glad to share them with our other readers, as we have done with Carvalho's picture!

Citroën presents the C-Quatre Sedan, a possible replacement for C4 Pallas

Citroën C4 Pallas, the sedan version of C4, has been first presented in China as the C-Triomphe in June 2006. Now there is a new sedan based on C4, but it is called C-Quatre Sedan, a difference that can only be explained due to the fact that Chinese people think the number four represents bad luck (and that most of them must not know Quatre means Four in French). The car, which initially was considered to be a mere "taillift" of C-Triomphe, is in fact a new car.

The back end of the car is clearly inspired on the back of the new C5, a car that will be sold in China by 2010. Sales will begin in June. C-Quatre Sedan is 4.56 m long, 1.77 m wide and 1.49 m tall, with a wheelbase of 2.61 m, the same one presented by C4. C-Triomphe is longer (4.77 m) and presents a bigger wheelbase (2.71 m). The luggage compartment in C-Quatre Sedan is also smaller than the one presented by C-Triomphe: 481 l, against 580 l.

These differences make us sure that both C-Triomphe and C-Quatre Sedan will be sold in China. And that can be reassured considering there is no word about the new car replacing any other. In smaller markets, such as in South America, the new C-Quatre Sedan could replace C4 Pallas with cost advantages (a single platform to hatchback and sedan versions) and an appearance that will certainly please a lot more people. Let's wait for news on that. Meanwhile, have another look at the car, in multiple angles.

Citroën C4 Pallas is seen in China with a different tail

Citroën C4 Pallas, the sedan version of C4, has been first presented in China as the C-Triomphe in June 2006. It is from there that the first images of a possible "taillift", or restyling, if you prefer, have arised. They present a smaller tail segment, inspired in the back of the new C5.

There is no word on when the new car will be presented (at least not one that we understand). We would not doubt the car to be sold in the Chinese market along with C-Triomphe, but the new vehicle can be a replacement for C4 Pallas in South American markets. This may take a while to happen, only when the car needs a little change, especially after the new C5 start to be sold in these markets. C5 is expected to reach dealerships by the second half of the year.
