Ferrari officially presents its Scuderia Spider 16M, limited to 499 units

The rumours Ferrari has been preparing a lighweight version of F430 Spider proved to be true today, with the release of the brand-new Scuderia Spider 16M (a reference to the 16th title Ferrari win on the Constructors Championship), a very exclusive version limited to only 499 units.

Revealed in Mugello, the new car is 80 kg lighter than a regular F430 Spider, with a dry weight of 1,340 kg. Ready to run, it weights 1,440 kg. The 4.3-litre V8 engine, able to generate 510 bhp (375,4 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 470 Nm at 5,250 rpm, pushes the Scuderia Spider 16M from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 s and to a top speed of 315 km/h. Bear in mind this car is a convertible, what makes these numbers even more impressive. Fuel consumption is also remarkable: 6.4 km/l.

There will be two colour options for Scuderia Spider 16M, a black one, with grey stripes, as a base option and a tricolour livery offered as part of the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalisation Programme.

Different from previous versions, in which performance accounted for a very spartan interior, Scuderia Spider 16M gives comfort some concessions, such as the Ferrari customised iPod Touch 16 Gb placed in the central dock. Although some of the future owners, which will be selected by Ferrari, may want to listen to music, most of them will surely be happy to listen to the roars of the engine, while admiring the silver plate above the air vents that states their vehicle is not for the ones that want it. It is for the ones that can have it, a privilege reserved only for 499 people on Earth.
